Christmas in July

One of the things I love to make is Christmas cards. That was the first type of card I really started to make way back when. I have a few cards to share that I made last year that use some traditional supplies and some nontraditional items. One of my favorite places to go for early Christmas supplies is Hobby Lobby. Last year as I was making my way through the isles I found some pine like strips. They were a lot like pipe cleaners only looking like pine boughs. I found them with all the miniatures. I thought they would be a perfect material to make a wreath. It gives some dimension, but it’s not more bulky than say a bow on a card. After some thought this is what I came up with…

To make the wreath I just took one of those strips and cut it in half and make a circle. I glued it and some gems with glue dots. Brads would also be cute on this. The alpha and flourish stamps are from Autumn Leaves. So when you are thinking about your Christmas cards this year visit the miniature section and see if you can find some things to put on your cards for a little fun. I’m thinking I need some little strands of Christmas lights too. Wouldn’t that be cute!?!

This other card (which is a little blurry sorry) I used some leaves from the floral department. I just broke off the pick and added it with pop dots. I used brads for the berries or you could also use some gems. This is a very simple card for mass production, but I love the simplicity of it. It seems those are the cards I love best for Christmas. It is small too so it would be great to attach to a gift bag with a little note inside.

This card uses a black and white photo I took long ago. I blurred the photo on purpose trying to capture the blur of how fast the snow was falling on that day. I used it as my main image adding some snowflake stickers by Jolee’s. The sentiment was just printed on vellum from the computer. Another simple card to put together and depending on your stickers it would be inexpensive as well.

This last card uses some paper from a Christmas paper stack that I got on clearance after Christmas again! Got to look for those sales afterwards!! I used an old Sizzix die for my snowflake and a big fat gem for the center. The glitter spots are just glue dots and glitter. That is a great task for the kids to do if you want to involve them in making the cards. The sentiment was printed from the computer again to make assembly time short and easy.

That is the cards I have today I hope you enjoyed them and are inspired to start thinking about your Christmas cards for this year. Tomorrow I have 1 card 3 ways to share. Its easy enough even the littlest kids in your life can help!! See you then!
